Youth4Climate on the Move is a multi-city journey across Italy bringing together young climate innovators from around the world and partners. From Milan to Rome, the programme connects youth-led climate solutions with leading institutions, research centres, businesses and ecosystems that can help them grow.
Follow the route of Youth4Climate on the Move across five Italian cities. Each stop represents a different chapter of the journey, bringing participants into contact with the people, institutions and ecosystems shaping climate action in Italy and beyond.
Youth4Climate was launched in Milan in 2021 during Pre-COP26 as a joint initiative of the Government of Italy and UNDP to strengthen youth engagement and support youth-led climate action.
Returning to Italy now carries both symbolic and strategic weight. It brings the initiative back to where it began, while marking a new phase in its evolution: from a platform that elevates youth voices to one that also helps connect youth-led solutions with the ecosystems they need to grow, make an impact and scale.
Across climate diplomacy, research, enterprise, design and culture, Italy offers a distinctive setting for this journey, one that can bring young innovators into contact with leading institutions, universities, businesses and centres of excellence, while showcasing the country’s role in advancing climate action through partnership, innovation and exchange.
Milan is the starting point of the journey and a natural place to open the route. The next steps will be Venice, Bologna, Naples and finally Rome, bringing the full cohort back together in a setting shaped by policy, diplomacy and institutional engagement.
Milan is the natural starting point of the journey. As the city where Youth4Climate was launched at Pre-COP26 in 2021, it carries strong symbolic value and offers a dynamic ecosystem of universities, private sector actors and innovation spaces, setting the tone for a journey focused on visibility, partnerships and scale.
Bologna brings a systems perspective to the route, focusing on how science, data and institutional collaboration can support climate solutions at scale. With its strong research ecosystem and links to climate intelligence, infrastructure and public services, it offers a setting to explore how evidence and implementation can work together.
Venice represents one of the most distinctive chapters of the route. As a city shaped by water, heritage, design and climate vulnerability, it offers a powerful setting to explore adaptation, urban futures, cultural ecosystems and blue thinking. This stop focuses on how climate solutions can engage with cities, creative sectors and place-based innovation.
Naples brings a hands-on innovation focus to the route, showing how digital tools, research and entrepreneurship can turn climate ideas into practical solutions across food systems, sustainable development and climate resilience.
Rome is the final stop of the trip, bringing the full cohort back together in a setting shaped by policy, diplomacy and institutional engagement. As the home of UNDP Rome Centre and a hub for institutional, diplomatic and policy engagement, Rome provides the space to reflect on the route, strengthen visibility and connect the experience to broader partnership and next-step opportunities.
